An overview of education system in past 75 years  



This year India is going to celebrate its 75th year of independence as a Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. In these years India make a peculiar progress in all fields like Economy ,Infrastructure, democracy , health , education and entrepreneurship etc. In all these betterments ,the quality and quantity refinement in education system give a booster dose to Indian economy and its youth population .despite of  a dark  era for India  and its population ,the India becoming more stronger in nowdays messed up  geopolitics and competitive world with its contenders


the biggest miracle or change come in Indian education system when the government of  India  passed the  86th amendment in our constitution in December, 2002 and made education as a fundamental right. as stated by  the article 21 A . now it is  government authority to provide quality education to Indian population and balancing gender equality in education field .for these purpose government made the right of education act(right of children to free and compulsory education act) in 2002 .key element includes in this act are follows

  • free and compulsory  education to the Indian population of 6 to 14 age group.
  • Mandatory 25% reservation for the SC, ST, Socially backward class  and different abled.
  • make policies to increase the admission of dropout children .
  • focus on sharing the financial and other responsibility between the center and states Government

Today India has a highest literacy rate  since ever the Independence with 77.7% which was  only 12% at the time of  independence .In this the male literacy rate is 84.7%  follow by female literacy rate which is only 70.3% .however it is an average data and the reality posses a lot of regional inequality .like Kerala topped in literacy rate with 96.2% while Andhra Pradesh topped by bottom with 66.4%.there is also an enlargement in gross enrollment ratio in schools .the data show that enrollment of students in higher primary education was 89.7% in the year 2019- 20 which become increased up to 92.2%  in the session 2020-21. GER also increased on the  primary education level which was 97.8%  in the session 2019-20 and turn 99.1% in the session 2020-21  which is the biggest achievement for India .
GER has also increased in secondary education which was 77.9% in 2019-20 and become 79.8% in the session 2020-2021.similiarly higher education GER has reached by 53.8% in 2020-21.the initiatives taken by government have also helped to supplement the number of teaching institute in India. the number of IIT and IIM was only 16 and 13 in 2014 which become 23  and 20 in 2021 .the number of universities in 2013-14 were 723 in all over India which turn into 1043 numbers in 2019-20.the numbers of colleges in all over India were 36634 in 2013-14 which increased  upto 42343 in 2019-20.Accroding to the UNICEF the Indian educational system is one of the largest system in the world in which more than 1.5 million schools  ,8.5 million teachers and 250 million students are included .the current data of UDISE+(UNION DISTRICT INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR EDUCATION ) of  estimate that there was 14.94 lakh schools  in the session 2018-19 in all over India which become 15.1 lakh in 2020-21.


these all statics elucidate that the not only government agencies and institutes is giving booster dose to Education system but also Indian population is also understanding the value  and importance of education as a core unit of live which provide a meant of employment and fill up punctuality or morals in lives. today each and every person   from a farmer to a daily wageworker  wants to pursue the best education for his\her children  . government schemes like education loan, scholarship  provision. Digitalization of education ,focused on practical study ,research and development in education sector ,educational tours for students , scholarships foe foreign study and increasing the expenses on education have made education more approachable for poor population .
