WHAT IS THE ISSUE?
On September 16, a 22-year younger woman named - Mahsa Amini - death was reported in Tehran, the capital of Iran. She had come here to meet her relatives. On 13 September the morality police of Iran shut off her for violating the strict dress code rules of Iran because she had not dressed hijab properly. Morality police told her family that they were taking her for one-hour re-education classes. But 2 hours later morality police have to rush to hospitalize the Mahsa Amini. After 3 days, she passed away. While the police have claimed that she died due to a heart attack, her family alleged that was thrashed by the morality police. To prove their claim, the police released the CCTV footage of a detention center where a woman became unconscious due to cardiac pain. Police said that the woman was Mahsa Amini. However, her father rejects this clue and demands footage of the courtyard and police van.
SERIES OF ANTI - HIJAB PROTEST IN IRAN
The Demise of Mahsa Amini pushes the nationwide protests which has widespread in 46 Iranian cities. The internet was flooded with videos of protests, women cutting their hair and burning hijab, and clashes between police and protesters. In some videos, people are demanding the death of the dictator and the end of an Islamic state. The Anti- hijab protest has continued for the last two weeks and now entering in third week. According to the rights groups,83 people have been killed till now and hundreds of the protesters have been detained in the actions made by security forces. To stop this social media revolution, the government has to blackout the internet service and suspend the usage of Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, and Twitter in the country. On 25 September, the first Iranian girl-Hadis Nafazi- who became the online symbol of protest was killed in bullet fire. In one video, the sister of a protester - Jawed Hadri -who was killed by forces, cut her hair on the grave.
